They are usually made of a thicker material and/or have a blockout lining to keep light out, but due to this, blockout curtains also have the added benefit of extra insulation when compared to non-blockout curtains, helping to increase energy efficiency. Blockout curtains can come pre-lined, or you have the option to add a blockout lining to most fabrics for a custom look.
